With so many pitfalls facing new electrical contracting businesses, it can be hard to find the time to get off the tools and drive your business to the next level. You need fast, well-informed advice you can trust, to make sure you take the right steps to set up your business for long term success including an understanding of the following:
On completion of Year One, you’ll complete an audit of your learning activities and skills and on successful completion of the audit, you will progress to Silver Master Electrician. You’ll also have the opportunity to continue your journey and complete year Two of the Master Program to lift your business skills even further to become a Gold Master Electrician.
Note – if you choose to continue in the program, total fees for participation in year two of the Master Program will be met by the individual applicant (business). Refer to Master Program annual fees for years two and three here.
Successful applicants will be eligible to receive Construction Skills Queensland funding to cover Year One of the Master Program, with participants to fund the standard membership component as following:

A $660 deposit is required upfront in addition to standard membership fees. All learning activities must be completed within the required timeframes specified, for participants to be eligible to receive the deposit refund.

What is the Master Program?
The Master Program (Year one) includes 12 educational activities to help you build core business skills. You will undertake a journey of practical knowledge building, including access to a range of tools to support you and your business. Each participant is mentored by an MEA Facilitator with the opportunity for one on one private discussions.
Does the Master Program include a safety system?
Yes, all participants will be enrolled into ME Safety – free of charge. ME Safety access within the Master Program provides licences for Managers, Workers and Office/Admin personnel (number of licences are based on the size of your business) plus other important benefits including 50% off Management Liability Insurance through Austbrokers Comsure Insurance. Will my Facilitator/Mentor understand my business?
Our Facilitators/Mentors are electricians by trade, with extensive industry experience. They understand your mindset and challenges and have been trained to facilitate your journey.
How does the Program work?
There are 12 key activities to be completed within year one of the program – most activities will be delivered once a month and, on some occasions, you’ll complete two activities in one month.
We understand you are busy running your business, that’s why we space the activities out and provide the support necessary for you to learn and master each activity. The program is focussed on delivering value to your business.
Can I progress to a Silver then Gold Master Electrician if I join the Master Program?
Yes. If you successfully complete each of the core activities in year one plus an audit at the end of year one, you will become a Silver Master Electrician. If you chose to participate in Year 2 of the Master Program, successfully complete all activities and a Gold Master Electrician audit, you will become a Gold Master Electrician.
Please note – fees for participation in year two of the Master Program will be met by the individual applicant (business).
What is TheCUBE business tool and how does it work?
TheCUBE is a digital tool that can provide enormous business support. Your MEA Facilitator will assist you with set-up. You’ll have support to set your business and personal objectives and short, medium and long-term goals. Your ME Facilitator will contact you regularly to introduce the various ways the platform can add value, you’ll have the know-how to analyse your business and conduct ‘what if’ scenario testing. You’ll be able to deep dive into your P&L and develop action plans.
If I complete the two-year Master Program, what are the next steps?
If you do complete the two-year journey, you’ll have the opportunity maintain your Gold Master Electrician status by transitioning to the Advantage Program – a business maintenance program designed to help ensure your business remains compliant and an industry leader of best practice. The Advantage Program includes an annual assessment and benchmarking tool. We want to continue working with you to maintain high quality systems to protect you, your business, your customers and the Master Electrician brand.
*The Construction Skills Queensland Master Program Grant funding is limited to a total of 30 applicants (individual businesses). Applications close on 6 February 2024, or when all 55 places are filled. Successful applicants will be notified by phone call and email by 9 February 2024.

Program Fees
The grant will fund amounts starting from $2,642.00 for participation in year one of Master Electricians Australia’s (MEA) Master Program, with successful grant recipients to fund the MEA annual membership fee. Please refer to the Construction Skills Queensland Small Business Grant Pricing for more information regarding specific fund amounts and annual membership fees per business size.
By completing the grant application form, you agree to become a member of MEAQ (Queensland based contractors) and abide by the standard Membership and Subscription Terms and Conditions.
As an applicant, you agree to enter a contract to join the Master Program for a minimum of 12 months, pay a $660 deposit and dedicate a minimum of four business hours per month to complete all tasks supplied in the Master Program. Annual membership fee for year one must be paid in advance, with a tax invoice issued on confirmation of your successful application. On successful completion of all year one activities, the $660 deposit will be refunded.
