Find missing batteries and win up to $10k

LG Energy Solution Australia (LGESAU) is determined to find every single battery requiring remedial action under safety recall.

Affected batteries include certain LG-branded RESU systems as well as certain “S/A Gen 2” battery modules installed in non-LG branded systems including: SolaX Power Station, SolaX X-Cabinet, Opal Storage, Redback SH5000, Red Earth Sunrise, Red Earth Drop Bear, Eguana Evolve and VARTA Pulse Neo.

In November 2022 LGESAU also launched a new recall action for additional batteries and so batteries not already replaced or refunded under existing recall processes should have their serial number checked again to see if they require installation of safety diagnostic software intended to shut down batteries at risk of overheating.

We have also created an app for checking whether batteries are subject to recall. LGES Checks for Cheques, like the name suggests, is a serial number checking tool which comes with a chance of winning a monetary reward from $50 to $10,000 for eligible batteries registered in the app. LGES is enlisting the help of electricians and homeowners to download the app, and check their battery or any battery they come across so this recall can be finished as quickly and safely as possible.

How to check panels and win cash rewards

  1. Download the app (Apple App StoreGoogle Play)
  2. Take a photo of the ESS Home Battery serial number.
  3. If the battery is eligible, register your details (including installation address ) for a chance to win.

Affected batteries can also be identified by serial number.

Not only do you get a chance to win $10,000, or one of the lesser prizes of $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250 or $50, for taking a photo of an eligible battery (i.e. one which is subject to recall by LGESAU). You will also protect homeowners as the recalled batteries can overheat and catch fire and cause injury or death and/or damage to property (incidents have occurred and caused damage to property).

If you have installed or know of any recalled batteries make sure the consumer knows they have been recalled due to fire hazards. And please urgently contact LGES for further instructions including for applicable interim safety measures.
