2022 Flood Grants

If you have been seriously impacted by the flood crisis there are a range of State and Federal Government support packages available. 

 

Federal Government

Disaster Recovery Payment – $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child if your home has been severely damaged or destroyed, or you’ve been seriously injured.

Disaster Recovery Allowance – short-term income assistance (up to 13 weeks) if you’ve lost income as a direct result of the floods.

Additional funding has been announced for those in the Clarence Valley, Lismore, and Richmond Valley council areas. Eligible adults will get an additional $2,000 and each dependent child will get an additional $800.

Queensland Government

Emergency Hardship Assistance Grant
The Emergency Hardship Assistance Grant is available as a contribution to support people directly impacted by a disaster to who are unable to meet their immediate essential needs for food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation.

Essential Household Contents Grant
If you are uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for financial assistance to provide a contribution towards replacing or repairing essential household contents, such as beds, linen and whitegoods, that have been lost or damaged in a disaster.

Structural Assistance Grant
If you’re uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for a one-off payment as a contribution towards repairs to your home to make it secure and safe. Grants of up to $10,995 for single adults and up to $14,685 for couples/families are available.

Essential Services Safety and Reconnection Grant
If you’re uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for a grant to help you reconnect essential services that were damaged by a disaster.

 

NSW Government

Business support
The NSW and Australian governments will be offering financial support to businesses or not-for-profit organisations impacted by the NSW storms and floods of January to March 2022.

The assistance available includes:

  • Concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers, and not-for-profit organisations.
  • Freight subsidies for primary producers.

Businesses impacted by storms and floods from January to March 2022 can request to be notified when financial support is available from the NSW Government by completing an online form.

Disaster Relief Grant for Individuals
If your home or essential household contents were damaged or destroyed by a natural disaster, you may be eligible for the Disaster Relief Grant for individuals. The financial assistance is provided to help people to recover from the effects of a disaster and re-establish a basic standard of living. It is not provided to replace insurance or compensate for losses.
