The Department of Energy and Climate announces the official launch of the Battery Booster program. This innovative initiative spearheads the integration of household battery systems within Queensland’s solar infrastructure. The new initiative will roll-out in two phases, with the first extending an invitation to electrical contractors across the region to register as Approved Installers.

Key program components are detailed below:

Phase one – Installer Registration Phase:

  • Mandatory registration as an Approved Installer with the Department of Energy and Climate.
  • Requirements: valid Queensland electrical licenses, safety certification, and Clean Energy Council battery accreditation or equivalent training.
  • Submission of an application and certification form by participating businesses.

Phase 2 – Household Access in early 2024:

  • Scheduled opening for Queensland households in early 2024.
  • Specific eligibility criteria for households will be disclosed closer to the launch date.

The Department of Energy and Climate emphasizes the pivotal role of electrical contractors play in advancing Queensland’s sustainable energy goals.
