Important industry advice: solar DC cables

The recent introduction of AS/NZS 5033:2021 has changed the type of DC cable to be installed on above-ground installations

Previously, certified cable manufactured under TUV 2 PfG 1168/08.2007 could be used. It’s now been replaced by the new manufacturing DC cable standard IEC 62930.

This new standard (except in NSW) gave a six-month grace period, which expired May 2022. It’s important you now convert to the new IEC 62930 cable type, as required. In NSW there was no transitional period.

The Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) has summarised the new Standard here.
