Excellence Awards 2023 Winners Spotlight

We interviewed the Operations Manager of Power Up Electrical Solutions, Tom, to catch up after the company’s award win and talk about the future of the business and the importance of teamwork.

My team were exceptionally proud to win, I think you can tell from the photos when we were announced as winners, it was great to share the moment with the boys and girls whose hard work and dedication made it all possible.

Share with us something about yourself or your business that you’re working on improving, and how you think it will better help you achieve your goals?

“We are constantly looking to enhance our customer experience. Having started as a service based electrical business 12 years ago, we’ve seen a lot of jobs come and go and the process on how these jobs are actioned. Ensuring our clients are kept fully up to date with the job while the technicians are onsite is imperative. We have a large service client base with multiple shopping centre clients across South East Queensland and we hope by ensuring exceptional customer service we can retain our existing clients and attract new ones.”

Can you please share an anecdote, or a time that really shaped your career in the electrical industry?

“Recognising the significance of teamwork, it soon become apparent that in order service our clients we needed to build a great team of high performing individuals that can adapt and handle any issue that may arise. We are faced with new challenges, complications and an array of technical issues daily and it is great to see how the team can come together to resolve any of these. Over the years these experiences have emphasised the importance of having a great diverse team working together toward a common goal. Team building and expanding our knowledge and experience levels has been instrumental in our success.”


 

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

“I never thought I’d be where I am now 5 years ago! In 5 years, I’d hope we’d be exactly where we are today, with a great group of boys and girls (maybe a little larger than where we are today) still with the same clients we service. Some of which we have been maintaining for over 10 years.”


If you could have a celebrity endorsement for your company, who would it be and why?

“It would be great to have Elon Musk say a few words about us! Having completed a number of the new Tesla supercharger Installations in SEQ, the team really enjoyed these projects gaining valuable experience and knowledge in the new technology while contributing to the nations journey towards achieving net-zero emissions.”

“Winning the Service business of the year award on a national level in its first year of recognition hold immense significance for both the employees and myself personally, having been with the business 10 years at the end of this year it’s the pinnacle accolade to achieve and reaffirms our commitment to excellence in the service electrical industry. Validating our hard work and efforts with receiving this award further proves we are a leader in the service & maintenance space and instils trust in both our current and future clients that they will be well looked after.
